CARRAGEENAN...a common "FAT REPLACER"...But NOT necessarily a safe or healthy choice.
You may be doing your body MORE HARM than GOOD with this "REPLACER". THE BOTTOM LINE? Depending on the "FAT REPLACER" used, you may be better off using the REAL THING... But use the REAL THING (FULL FATS) OCCASIONALLY and in a REASONABLE amount. BE MINDFUL OF WHAT YOU EAT!

In many of the popular "LOW-FAT" or "FAT-FREE" foods available today, the real fat has been removed from the product...but manufacturers have to use OTHER INGREDIENTS in place of the removed fat...AKA "FAT REPLACERS" or "THICKENERS".
WHAT ARE THE COMMON "FAT REPLACERS" OR "THICKENERS"? MODIFIED STARCH; VARIOUS TYPES OF GUMS; GELATIN; MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES.
BUYER BEWARE: The SAFETY of many "FAT REPLACERS" are not rigorously studied...and therefore UNKNOWN. NOTE: WE DO NEED a certain % of our daily intake of calories from HEALTHY FATS...We're talking HEART HEALTHY AND HEART PROTECTING FATS. Even with these HEALTHY FATS, however, we need to practice MODERATION on a daily basis - as we can still have TOO MUCH of a GOOD THING. REMEMBER: HEART HEALTHY FATS ARE ESSENTIAL TO OVERALL HEALTH AND FOR OUR BODIES TO FUNCTION PROPERLY!
